One weird sea creature

I copied this from PZ Myers Pharyngula blog because it is seriously weird.  I think he's right that it's probably some sort of deep sea jellyfish, though I've never seen anything like it.  At 6 mins 30 it's rather long, so unless you're an enthusiast, you might want to watch the first couple of minutes, then skip to the last minute or so.

seriously....WTF!?!? totally freaky - sat and watched the whole six and a half minutes and I am still not sure what I've just seen..... what a weird thing.... needs some Terry Riley-esque minimalist soundtrack putting over the top of it!!

Jenny thinks it might be a salp. Salps are generally hollow barrel-shaped animals that suck water in and filter anything edible out of it. I think they're mostly not there! This link has some descriptive text and a few photos.

on youtube they say everything from "weather balloon" to "Deepstaria Enigmatica" to a Dementor from Hogwarts!!
