Poorly-sick at home

Today I'm feeling dead sorry for myself, having come down with a cold. The back of my nose and throat are sore, I'm all blocked up and my head hurts. I feel thoroughly miserable.

You'll notice, however, that I've managed to crawl out of bed. Well that was because half an hour ago, when I went to the loo, my back was so stiff and sore I could barely hobble the necessary 5 yards. It was obvious that lying in bed wasn't going to help that, so I had a shower and did a few back exercises to loosen myself up a bit. I still feel lousy, but I'm moving around a bit to keep limber.

Yeah, it's the sympathy vote I'm after.

Poor you, Rob. Have you tried Citricidal? It's a natural remedy from Grapefruit Seed Extract. It tastes foul but workss like magic -particularly where sore throats are concerned. Tip: have something ready after to take the taste away!! M xx
PS Maybe Jenny would feel inclined to bring some home if you can't get out? Health Food shops usually have it.

Ah so the lurgy finally got to you...sorry to hear it. Keep warm. At least the re-heated pork belly should be something to look forward to this evening.

Thanks, Margot, I'll look out for it. If tastes the way citrus seeds do when you chew on them, I expect it will be foul!

Hello Jane, and welcome! So the lurker finally emerges from the shadows! Yes, I'm looking forward to the pork. In fact, I think I'll go down to the cellar now to fetch up something big and comforting so it's at room temp when I want to eat.

Have all my no-longer-required sympathy - my invalid days are over for moment (touch wood...).

Thanks all you guys, I really appreciate it. Right now I'm sitting in front of a log fire with a bottle of Ch. Ksara (Bekaa Valley, Lebanon) which is 40%syrah, 30% cab franc, 30% cab sauv. It's really nice, but a tad tannic, which usually indicates youth, so I'm inclined to buy a half-case and stick it in the 'leave for a bit' section of the cellar for 3 or 4 years. Nice to have the option, I know.

Very strange how colds go. I've alternated every few hours between guilt at not being at work and really feeling at death's door. Right now I'm mid-way, so am reading the most recent Harry Potter, on the grounds that it doesn't take too much intellect. Not much of that around right now, Jenny being at Darwin still.

Today I feel marginally better, though not much. However, I am enough in touch with reality to relate that I do realise how lucky I've been. I just have a cold. I feel lousy. But then, I don't have norovirus. I know it's silly, but I almost want to thank BW for having had it for me, if you see what I mean... Yes, totally unscientific, but somehow...

You've got my sympathy! Esp about the resting up leading to seizing up! Honestly, life can be sooooo unfair!

Thanks, DJ. I'm definitely on the mend, as expected. Bunged up sinuses, but otherwise I feel fine.

Time to be up and about and a-doing-of, I reckon.
